Hello!

There has been a bit of a change here on the old blog!

The name I had previously (NailPaintAndLipstick) was a bit naff and I felt really restricted with what I could write. I found myself wanting to blog about a comedy show I went to see, or a tasty cake I made or a great book but couldn't because I had made my blog exclusively beauty.

So I did some thinking and have made some changes. I have renamed my little bit of the internet The Moo Life. Not the best name but everyone calls me Moo so it seemed fitting.

I want my blog to be a place where I can just note my thoughts, express my views and get excited about something. Whether that be Nail Polish, the new Star Trek film (seriously though..Spock?! Hottie), an amazing cook book, a great day out or how much I will miss my sister when she goes away to uni.

I guess is the last few months I have kind of found my feet and got to know what I want this place to be. I've built confidence writing about beauty products (and I still love them a LOT!) but I want to open myself up creatively. I'm not (and have never been) particularity creative but this is my little getaway where I can just chat.

I don't know where this little venture will go but I am very excited  to see.

30 Day Snap #30 (The Last Day!)

I've missed a couple of days but today is the last one! I've actually found it easier than I thought although this month seems to have gone really slow!

It's me and my little cousin William looking pretty sleepy after a long day of playing!

30 Day Snap #27

I missed another day!! I was doing so well!

Anyway, today I went to the portrait gallery with my auntie and cousin Kit (Felix was at school we didn't leave him at home!!). I really enjoyed it, I think portraits are my favourite form of art.

We then went to Jamie Oliver's pop up diner which is just off Piccadilly Circus and it was so tasty! It is all themed around dinosaurs and Kit loved it! If you are in the area definitely go! The staff were lovely and the food was amazing!

30 Day Snap #25

First up I missed yesterday cause I was travelling all day the most exciting thing that happened was a burger for tea.

Second off all this might be slightly random for today's one but William (my 3 year old cousin) was chatting to me as I did my make up. He was asking lots of questions and picked up for eyelash curlers, looked at them in wonder and proclaimed 'they are the jaws of life!'

I'm going to London tomorrow! So excited!

Glitter Snap #23

I'm driving from Edinburgh to Gloucester tomorrow (about 350 miles) to stay with family for a week and a half. I'm also getting the train across to London to stay with my auntie for a night which means lots of shopping!

I'm all packed and ready and I seem to have packed nearly everything that I own which is typical of me! I'm such a panicker and the thought of not having something fills me with so much dread!

Tomorrow picture will probably be a service station as that's all I will be doing! I'm driving on my own too which means I can sing along to the radio like its nobodies business!

30 Day Snap #22

Bit of a cheat today as I've been super busy and had completely forgot about it till now!

I have been babysitting all night (and went to see Despicable Me 2 which is so so so good!!!). The photo I'm using is actually from a couple days ago and it's Oscar chatting to Jenson (the hamster). Oscy looks so confused!

30 Day Snap #21

An example of how me and Oscar are just as stubborn as each other.

P.S. I'm on holiday for 10 days!!! Hooray!!!

P.P.S. I ended up moving and Oscar won.

30 Day Snap #20

I go down to England on Monday and decided to treat myself to a set of nails! I went in thinking I want short, square and definitely not pink! I came out with long, round and bright, bright pink!
I can't resist the lure of super girly nails!!
The picture doesn't do them justice at all they are really bright in person!

30 Day Snap #19

I'm writing this on the train home whilst eating sandwich for tea with one hand so it'll be really sort!

I had a work seminar thing in a posh hotel in Glasgow and we were a bit early. We thought we would get a quick drink as we were both rushing around and I got literally the stingiest bottle of Diet Coke EVER. It was teeny! So stingy haha!

30 Day Snap #18

Took oscy for a long walk in our local country park today and he was looking over the bridge! It was so funny!

30 Day Snap #17

Today I took Oscy off his lead on a walk for the first time! I didn't trust him before cause he is still a puppy and tends to get over excited. There was no one else in the field so I let him run wild! He came back too so I will definitely let him off more often!

30 Day Snap #16

Today I popped to the shopping centre and bought a couple of things from River Island (and managed to avoid of the lure of Boots...almost). I came home, tidied my room and now I'm watching LOTS of interviews of the Star Trek cast.

I went to see the sequel to the first film last Tuesday and it was one of the BEST films I have ever seen, ever!! Even if you don't like those kinds of films go and see it! It's incredible! I'm also even more in love with Spock which I find a little unnerving!

Glitter Snap #15

I can't believe we're halfway through June already! It's going so fast!

Today it has been raining and miserable and I've not really done anything worth taking a picture off so I'm recycling one of the pictures that didn't make the cut on the other days.

It's a picture of the burn near where I live. I think I took it yesterday when the sun was out and it a lovely evening!

Hopefully tomorrow I'll do something worth reporting!

****I'm taking part in the 30 Day Snap idea of Sprinkle of Glitter****

I've spent today watching Come Dine With Me, which is such a good tv show, I can watch it all day long! I also ordered some Vans and a really cute washbag for my holidays in a week from Asos, no doubt when they arrive it will be a daily snap!

Impress Nails

I have been using these little beauties for about a year now so feel I have definitely road-tested them enough to give an full and honest review!

They are basically little, plastic sticky-back nails which over a fuss free solution to making your nails look pretty!

I have gone through about 7 pots of these bad boys and I can honestly say they live up to the hype! The sticky pads are actually sticky (unlike the ones I used to wear when I was a nipper) and the sizes actually fit nails instead of them all being too small or too big!

The colours are all really pretty (besides one or two weird ones), and they come in some really pretty patterns too!

I used them just with the sticky pads for the first few times, then started using them with a little brush on nail glue (which is really cheap) just to extend the length you can wear them that little but longer. I find without nail glue they last around 5-6 days and with nail glue they can last to around 10 days!

They aren't cheap but you get 24 in a pack and I have found that, if you have a few packs, you can mix and match the remaining ones to have an accent nail or alternate nails!

Plain nails (e.g. a solid colour) are £7.99 a pack and the patterned ones are £8.99 a pack. Considering getting a set of acrylics cost around £40, this isn't actually too bad!

I was watching Woman in Black and was NOT happy! My nails looked nice though!

An example of the 'mix and match' i mentioned earlier

A really pretty, natural pink

I went mental and made my own accent nail!

I think these were my favourite ever..

..apart from these! SO PRETTY!

30 Day Snap #14

I popped home for lunch today and sat in the garden. It was really sunny and nice. I love this time of year when all the flowers are about to bloom and it's really exciting!

My favourite flowers in the garden are the tiger lily which is just huge and has so many flowers on it! I also love the yellow lupin which is the big yellow flower in the middle of the picture.

30 Day Snap #13

I have been fancying some smarties for weeks now and I finally got around to buying some today. Smarties are the only chocolatey that I really like so I don't have them very often.

I was doing my usual smarties routine (tip them all out, sort into colours, put the in order of worst to best and eat going up the line).

They looked so pretty I thought this could be my picture today.

****I'm taking part in the 30 Day Snap idea of Sprinkle of Glitter****

P.S. they have totally changed the red smarties dye it tasted really funny! I miss smarties from yonder when they were bright colours and your mum wouldn't let you have the blue ones! The orange ones are still the best!

30 Day Snap #12

I took Oscy into the office today and he was clearly worn out from all the photocopying I had him doing!

He looked super cute taking a power nap with his toy I took a quick picture.

30 Day Snap #11

Today, for work, we travelled over the Forth Road Bridge to have a meeting.

It was raining and miserable but I took a quick snap of the bridge. I took a pic of the Forth Rail Bridge but you could barely see it though the railings and fog so have included the one of the road bridge!

30 Day Snap #10

Today's been pretty shit all things considered so it's a super quick one of my nails which I have enjoyed staring at for the past 3 days.

See you later, I'm going back to watching endless Kingsley videos.

30 Day Snap #9

I woke up at ten to one today and haven't done anything so I was lacking in inspiration as to what to do for my 30 Day Snap today then realised this was staring me in the face all day!

I used to listen to these stories all the time on audio book when I was young and I love them! When I saw this on Waterstones I just couldn't resist and have been reading it like mad since!

It's set in the 1940s in a boarding school and I have found myself thinking and talking like a 40s schoolgirl! Instead of saying 'mum to you want to pop to the shops' I'll say 'I say mum, it's a jolly nice day! How about a trip to the shop!'

I really need to stop doing that cause it can be quite embarrassing! I love these stories though - I feel like I'm rediscovering old friends!

30 Day Snap #8

Today has been such a nice, summers day!

I am in desperate need of some Summer clothes so went into tow but I looked in so many shops and found nothing at all!

I went to Space NK though and it was double N-Dulge points so obviously I had to get something *ahem*.

After coming out of Space NK (with my purse considerably lighter), I headed back to the train station where I came across this fellow.

If you live in Edinburgh you'll have probably seen him before! Every weekend in the Summer he turns up and spends the whole day upside down with his head in a bucket!

We're gonna have a BBQ now and enjoy the rest of the sunshine! I hope it lasts!!

30 Day Snap #7

Really quick one today, I have been at work all day, with a lot of driving to and from a meeting in the afternoon and I thought a picture of the road was boring!

I was walking the pup and saw this little leaf growing through a fence. I thought it was really cute and a nice metaphor for life - don't let the barrier get in the way of where you want to be.

30 Day Snap #6

Today I was at work and it was super duper sunny! I popped out to get some lunch, came back and chucked my stuff on my desk. I thought it unintentionally made for a quite nice 'What's on my desk'.

I have my mac lipstick in creme cup which I wear almost everyday for work and I'm nearly at the end of it! Oh no!
I have my Korres lip balm which lived up to every expectation - I LOVE IT! It looks really nice under the lipstick too!
A couple of pens which are my favourite at the moment, I'm quite fickle when it comes to stationary.
And my sunglasses which I love. They're so bright and make me happy! I've had them for about 5 years now and really need to get some new ones but I feel like Summer won't be Summer without my bright blue sunglasses!!

Nails Inc: Baker Street

I love Nails Inc as I've said here and here. When I saw this shade on a blog (I think it was WhatIHeartToday) I knew I needed it in my life! When I heard later on that Beyonce had this I felt it was the next step in my quest to be Beyonce *ahem*.

I actually lusted after this for a good two months before I finally got my mitts on it, and it hasn't disappointed at all. I think it is just the perfect blue for all seasons, seriously it's LOVE! I also picked up Royal Botanical Gardens which I also love! Think essie mint candy apple but slight greener and more pastel, beautiful and perfect for the sun!

I would recommend this to anyone, I think it will suit all skin tones! It costs £11 which is pretty pricey but I looked for a dupe on the high street and couldn't find one! Also, if you buy 2 Nails Inc polishes you get one free which works out at roughly £7 a polish! Cheaper than essie!

What nail polishes are you loving at the moment? Do you love Nails Inc too?

30 Day Snap #5

Today was a pretty boring day, if I'm honest!

I was at work till half 5, the weather is grey and humid (yuck!) and today is a fasting day at part of the 5:2 diet so I'm feeling pretty miserable.

However, if there is one thing that will cheer me up it is undoubtably a present! How can you not get joy looking at a present!! It's for my little cousin Felix who is 6 next week (he was in my Walk in the Countryside post). I hope he likes it!!

30 Day Snap #4

Today is such a nice, sunny, warm day! I was at work from 8.45 but as soon as my boss said I could leave a bit early I was out of that office like a shot! In the garden, feet up with heat magazine!! Bliss!

Today picture is a whole load of daisies! I love daisies, they remind me of sitting on the grass in primary school making daisy chains and wearing them round my neck all afternoon!

It also features my new sandals which I love! I got them from primark at the weekend for a bargainous £6! They had other colours too so if you like them snap them up quick cause there weren't many left!!

I hope this weather lasts all week, metcheck says so, lets keep our fingers crossed for a glorious week!

30 Day Snap #3

Today is Day 3 of 30 Day Snap and I have spent the vast majority of it battling this horrible machine! It is supposed to bind paper together into a pretty booklet but me and it will never be friends.

Pretty boring day today but c'est la vie! Made in Chelsea is on tonight, that's always good for cheering up a bleak Monday!

Come back tomorrow for day 4!

30 Day Snap #1

Today is 30 Day Snap #1!!

Today I went to the cinema to see The Great Gatsby (which was pants!).

I came home to see Oscy playing in the garden and my dad putting in a 'self-watering system' for the garden!

I love this picture cause it looks like Oscys toy has hit him in the face! It hasn't he had it in his mouth!

Come back tomorrow for day 2!

Walk in the Countryside

Yesterday my mums sister and her two little boys, Felix and Kit, came all the way up from London to stay for a few days (tomorrow we're going to Dynamic Earth! So excited!). Today it was warm but cloudy so we decided to all trek (even Oscy!) to one of the many country parks around where we live and have a walk!

As I said in a few posts back I'm trying not to spend money as I'm going down to London at the end of June (although two new tyres for my car, a new radio, fringe tickets and a new retainer all seem to need to be paid for this week! Don't you hate it when that happens?!). I decided instead of a beauty post I would stick to the frugal theme and do a lifestyle one instead!

It was a really nice time to go for a walk. As the Winter lasted so long, it finally felt like Summer wandering around the park. Oscy had a whale of a time, we played pooh-sticks, explored the adventure playground and had a Nobbly Bobbly ice cream! All in all a pretty fantastic day!

I might put up a post about Dynamic Earth tomorrow if I manage (and remember) to take some pictures!

Does it finally feel like Summer where you are?

Hello!

I've been reading Sprinkle of Glitter for ageees now and it's probably my favourite blog out there. Louise always does little photo challenges or fun things that everyone can get involved in and I've always wanted to join in but never thought my blog was good enough.

This one looked so fun though that I decided to just go for it! I will be in Scotland for the first half of June and Gloucester and London for the second half of June so thought it could be quite fun to share my month!

Make sure you follow my twitter page where I will be tweeting when the new picture goes up with the hashtag #GlitterSnap!

All credit for this marvelous idea goes to Louise Sprinkle of Glitter! If you've stumbled upon this blog and have never read Louise's you should definitely check it out! It's makes me smile!

See you in June!

Weekend Shopping in Edinburgh April 2013

I spent too much money..
..way too much..

..but how could anyone resist this?!
Surprisingly nice shot

I was waiting for Hollie and took about 30 pictures of town

Harvey Nichols Beauty Hall AKA My 2nd Home

Glasses in Primark (and a hideous face from me)
I went shopping in Edinburgh at the end of April and I can't believe it's nearly the end of May!
I have been meaning to do this post for ages but other things jumped the queue (RiRi Woo for one!).
I had such a great weekend! On the Saturday I went into town with my sister, Hattie, and mum while my dad went and got a tattoo (of a ventolin molecule - I wonder where I get my strange from?!). Hattie had to get a dress for a wedding so we had a mooch round Edinburgh. The weather was fab so it was a great day!

Edinburgh Castle with the standard tourists in the foreground
ermagerd 1D love hearts

The next day I hopped back on the train to meet my friend Hollie (who's blog you should definitely read!). Our friendship has quite a cute story, we were in the same year at school and had the same friends but never really got to know each other (until we put together our yearbook which is still the shit, Hollie!) and really got on. Anyway, we left school but still followed each other on twitter. We both loved YouTube and bloggers and made our blogs around the same time and we got back in touch! Anyway, cute moment over!
So we decided to go shopping together and have a day of talking about nothing but beauty products! Most people don't understand the need to spend half an hour discussing the pros and cons of lipgloss!

Topshop bits
Sleek Blush Palette: Just look at it
Seriously impressive pigment
I actually felt I wasn't too bad spending wise! I did buy a dress (which my mum was so happy about! I hate buying clothes and the last thing she said to me before I went out was 'at least look at the clothes, love'). I haven't got a picture of it because it's in the wash but I bought this one. I really like it, it's super comfy and just easy to wear.
I bought my mumma an eyeshadow duo from Nars because it was her birthday on the 3rd of May.

WOAH supeer bright!

I chose Kuala Lumper which is a rose gold/berry shade duo. I chose it because my mum wears a lot of purply/pink shades a lot and because she has green eyes it looks really pretty. Hollie also has green eyes and said she loves this!
My mumma loved it too so job well done!
Cause I really needed 2...
Love a starbucks
What is that bright thing in the sky?!

A few of the other bits I picked up were:

  • A new raspberry balmi, I had one before and loved it but the lid fell off and I didn't notice till I got back in the car (I keep them on my car keys). I was really upset because I use it literally everyday. It smells amazing and really moisturises my lips. I don't like the new packaging very much (it used to be round) but it does click into place more securely so I guess that's more important!
  • A new Tangle Teezer. I bought an orange one of these last July in London and have used it every day since! I found myself wishing I had one to keep in my bag so I picked up a pink one (I also bought one for my sister!). These are amazing, everyone with hair should have one. This pink one is actually a little bit smaller than my orange one, I bought them both from Space NK, but you can get them from loads of places. I like that it's a bit smaller cause I keep it in my bag but it's a bit strange, I guess.
  • I also bought the Sleek Blush Palette in 'Lace' which I have lusted after since last summer! I like all 3 shades and think it's great value for £10. I wouldn't say they are best quality ever but for £10 for 3 I didn't expect them to be. They can be tricky to blend as they are really, really pigmented. It's best to build it up, little by little to avoid the dreaded 80s cheek! I've put them side by side and the middle, shimmery shade is pretty much an exact dupe for the super famous 'Nars Orgasm'. I would say the Nars one lasts a smidge longer and is ever so slightly easier to work with but if your humming over the Nars one, get the Sleek one instead!
  • The topshop bits and pieces were mentioned here and I think I am going to change my mind on the eyeliner. I does apply well (due to the amazing brush I think) but by about midday it has transferred onto my lid! If you have normal or dry skin go for it but if your oily, like me, it's a definite no go! The eyebrow pencil I still love! The lipstick is a super bright pink (shade 'Brighton Rock') and is the same amazing quality as all of my others, and the colour is great for Summer! The nail polish was a bit of an impulse purchase, I think I will get more wear out of it come Autumn (the shade is 'Varsity').
  • I picked up a Burts Bees lipbalm in pomegranate. I'm actually really disappointed with this. Burts Bees get so hyped up and I thought it was a bit..blah. It wasn't particularly moisturising and I really didn't like the scent! Maybe a different scent would be better.

So that's everything I got over the last weekend in April. Over June I will be on a strict spending ban as I am driving to Gloucester and then onto London!! London is my favourite place I've ever been (although I've not ventured further than Northern France..one day I will go to New York! Sooner rather than later!). I love London so much though, I would love to move there one day. I'm saving my money for my holiday so I'm going to be good!
Also, Hollie and myself are going to start making YouTube videos which is slightly terrifying! I have finally got an iMac so I can edit, etc. and Hollie is going to teach me how to use iMovie so hopefully I will be able to imbed videos into posts which will be cool!

What are you most excited about for Summer?
